The regional fund for audio-visual production on the South-west coast of Norway.

Zefyr Media Fund (Mediefondet Zefyr) is the largest regional fund for audio-visual production in Norway and second in size to Film in Vast (Vastra Gotaland - Sweden) in the Nordic area.

The fund manages both state funding and private equity towards feature films, documentaries, TV-series, computer games and VR productions.

Zefyr Media Fund

Zefyr Media Fund receives approximately €1 million annually from the state government, funding that is earmarked audio-visual production and activity in the region. The state funding is partitioned as non-recoupable grants through 2-3 annual allocations, to high quality productions with significant regional expenditure (spending) in the audio-visual industries. International co-productions with a Norwegian minority producer are eligible to apply for funding.

Zefyr Media Fund can also provide equity up to €1 million through selective co-production investments. Operating as a collective investment fund sourced by private investors, Currently Zefyr holds approximately €4,5 million in private equity, and provides top financing for 4 to 8 productions a year.

Foreign producers must have a Norwegian co-producer in order to be eligible for investments from Zefyr. The fund usually requests to recoup at 1st position, and will also own a share of the projects corresponding to Zefyrs´ share of the projects’ private equity. It is expected that the projects are produced in part or fully in in our region.

Zefyr Medi Fund was established in 2016, following a merge of the two regional funds Fuzz and Filmkraft Fond. It is owned by Bergen City Council and Rogaland County, and further cooperates with counties and municipalities across our part of the country. The region stretches along the coast through 7 counties, from Møre og Romsdal in the north to Telemark in the south.
